Luther is one of the most important and enigmatic characters in Warhammer 40k lore. He was the First Captain of the Dark Angels Legion during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy, and his betrayal and fall to Chaos is a major turning point in the history of the Imperium.

Early Life and Career

Luther was born on the world of Caliban, a feral world located on the fringes of the Imperium. He was a skilled warrior and leader, and he quickly rose through the ranks of the Dark Angels Legion. He fought alongside the Primarch Lion El'Jonson in many battles, and he became one of Lion's most trusted commanders.

The Horus Heresy

When the Horus Heresy began, Luther was initially loyal to the Emperor. However, he was disillusioned by the Emperor's decision to abandon the Great Crusade and return to Terra. He also began to resent Lion El'Jonson, who he felt was becoming increasingly arrogant and distant.

Luther's doubts and suspicions eventually boiled over into open rebellion. He led a group of Dark Angels in a mutiny against Lion El'Jonson, and he declared himself the new leader of the Legion. Luther then allied himself with the traitorous Warmaster Horus, and he fought against the Imperium in the Horus Heresy.

The Siege of Terra

Luther played a key role in the Siege of Terra, the final battle of the Horus Heresy. He led a force of Dark Angels into the Imperial Palace, and he fought his way to the Emperor's throne room. However, he was defeated by Lion El'Jonson, and he was taken prisoner.

Aftermath of the Heresy

After the Horus Heresy, Luther was imprisoned in the Rock, the Dark Angels' fortress-monastery. He was tortured for centuries, but he never revealed the location of the other Fallen Dark Angels.

Luther remains a prisoner of the Dark Angels to this day. He is a constant reminder of the Legion's past treachery, and he is a symbol of the darkness that can lurk within even the most loyal hearts.

Appearance

Luther is a tall and imposing figure, with a muscular build and long, flowing hair. He is clad in black Terminator armor, and he wields a pair of lightning claws.

Luther's face is scarred and weathered, and his eyes are a piercing blue. He has a grim expression on his face, and he exudes an aura of authority and menace.

Personality

Luther is a complex and enigmatic character. He is a skilled warrior and leader, but he is also arrogant and ambitious. He is loyal to his Legion, but he is also willing to betray them if he believes it is necessary.

Luther is a master of deception and manipulation. He is able to win the trust of others, even those who are suspicious of him. He is also a skilled orator, and he is able to sway people to his side with his words.

Motivations

Luther's motivations are complex and difficult to understand. He is driven by a desire for power and glory, but he also believes that he is fighting for a just cause. He believes that the Imperium is corrupt and that it needs to be overthrown.

Luther is also motivated by a deep-seated hatred of Lion El'Jonson. He believes that Lion is a tyrant who has betrayed the Dark Angels. He wants to defeat Lion and take revenge for the wrongs that he has done.

Legacy

Luther is one of the most important and tragic figures in Warhammer 40k lore. He is a cautionary tale about the dangers of ambition and betrayal. He is also a reminder that even the most loyal hearts can be corrupted by darkness.

Luther's legacy will continue to be debated for centuries to come. He is a complex and enigmatic character, and his story is one of the most fascinating in all of Warhammer 40k lore.
