Winsor McCay was an American cartoonist, animator, and illustrator. He is best known for his comic strip Little Nemo in Slumberland, which was syndicated in newspapers around the world from 1905 to 1927. McCay was also a pioneer in the field of animation, and his 1914 film Gertie the Dinosaur is considered to be the first animated cartoon.

Early Life and Career
